"This Crime Syndicate is worse than the Justice League. They don't play fair!"
―Malcolm Merlyn in LEGO DC Super-Villains

Malcolm Merlyn, also known as the Dark Archer, is a Super Heroes minifigure who appears in LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham as DLC available in the Arrow pack, and as a playable character in LEGO DC Super-Villains.

Background[]

Comics[]

Arthur King became a supervillain after losing an archery contest to Oliver Queen, who later became Green Arrow. Feeling that he was a bad archer, he decided to train with Ra's Al Ghul, the man who trained Batman. Following his training he became Merlyn The Dark Archer. He often fights Green Arrow and occasionally Batman.

Arrow[]

Malcom Merlyn was a very successful billionaire business man. His wife was shot dead in the Glades and he swore to destroy them. He left for Nanda Parbat afterwards and met Ra's Al Ghul who trained him. Years later, he returned to Starling City with the Undertaking in mind. He used a earthquake machine to destroy the Glades and everyone in it. He became known as the "Dark Archer or the "Copycat Hood" as he was like Arrow, who was known as "The Hood". He was killed by a arrow to the heart from Arrow. He returned a year later to save his daughter Thea from Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke.

Video Game[]

Originally known as Arthur King, Malcolm Merlyn received extensive combat training at the hands of Ra's al Ghul, specializing in the use of bows and arrows. Choosing a new life as an agent for hire, Merlyn came into conflict with the Green Arrow and has become one of his greatest adversaries.

Notes[]

  • On Arrow, Merlyn was played by John Barrowman who also played Captain Jack Harkness in the TV show Doctor Who and its spin-off Torchwood. Barrowman went on to play Merlyn again in LEGO DC Super-Villains.
    • Like Chris Pratt and the late Christopher Lee, Merlyn and Harkness share the same head due to the fact that they're both played by the same actor.
