LEGOLAND Dubai is a LEGOLAND themed park that was scheduled to open in 2011. It has since been delayed and as of October 31st, 2013, is now scheduled to open in 2016. It will be a 3 million square-foot park containing more than 40 interactive rides, shows and attractions and will be part of DUBAILAND, a large and ambitious tourism, leisure and entertainment destination. The project was planned to cost around AED912m (US $248.28 million) and was going to be the first LEGOLAND Park to be built outside of North America and Europe, a title that has since gone to LEGOLAND Malaysia.
It was delayed due to the economic situation in the region, however, Merlin has said it is committed to building a park in Dubai.
