The Imperial Patrol Trooper is a Star Wars minifigure released in 2018 under the Solo: A Star Wars Story subtheme.

Description[]

The Imperial Patrol Trooper uses the same parts as the normal Stormtrooper, but with drastically different painting. The helmet has a totally black visor, and a larger breathing apparatus. The iconic frown is also higher up in the nose area. Black lines run down both sides of the helmet and into the breathing apparatus, and the ventilation grills are black. The torso is much more detailed, with clearly defined armor and an electronic piece near the top. The legs are black at the top and have a bit of printing near the bottom.

Background[]

Patrol stormtroopers, also known simply as patrol troopers, were a specialized variant of the Galactic Empire's stormtroopers. As the Empire reinforced its hold on planets across the galaxy, local defense forces were being supplemented and eventually completely replaced by stormtroopers. To cover distances across sprawling settlements and cities, patrol stormtroopers policed the streets aboard their swift C-PH patrol speeder bikes and were armed with EC-17 hold-out blasters.

In 13 BBY, patrol troopers had a presence in Coronet City, on the world of Corellia. In one situation, a patrol trooper witnessed Han Solo and his lover, Qi'ra, speeding in their M-68 landspeeder as they were being pursued by an A-A4B landspeeder piloted by the gangster Moloch. The trooper then began chasing the two speeders on their C-PH patrol speeder bike, however, the others were able to escape as the trooper crashed their speeder shortly afterwards.

A patrol stormtrooper's armor contained various advanced measures that allowed them to conduct their duties in the sprawling city-scapes of the Empire. In particular, their helmets possessed an enlarged dome that allowed them access to enhanced imaging electronics, and the overall armor, which shared similarities to the scout troopers', allowed for greater movement than regular stormtrooper armor. In addition, they received real-time traffic data, construction, and other potential obstacles from their headquarters via an in-helmet connection, allowing them to easily navigate various congested city environments.

Notes[]

  • The minifigure version of the character has completely white arms, but the film variant has a black underlayer that runs down the entire arm.
