LEGO Sea Challenge[1][2], also known as Beneath the LEGO Phanta Sea, was a planned video game to be developed by Mindscape, the developers of LEGO Island. It would have centered around the Divers sub-theme of Town.[3]

Development[]

The game was one of six games, including LEGO Adventurers, that Mindscape had planned to develop, LEGO Island being the first. However, Mindscape fired the LEGO Island development team a day before LEGO Island was released, canceling the other five games in the process. A contest was planned, to be announced in the manual for LEGO Island, the prizes being pre-orders of the title. This contest was never held, and was not mentioned in the final revision of the LEGO Island manual.

The project, along with LEGO Adventurers, was repitched to LEGO Media International in September of 1999.[4] Versions following that were conceived, including an edutainment title targeting the first grade[5] (combining elements from both LEGO Sea Challenge and LEGO Adventurers) and a variation of the main design with several LEGO Island related elements removed.[6]
