BB is a Space Port minifigure originally introduced in 2000 before making a physical debut in Life on Mars in 2001.
Description[]
In DK Readers: LEGO Rocket Rescue, BB has red hair and freckles with a modified version of Captain Jerry Walker's face. Before becoming an astronaut, he wears a black shirt with bright blue sleeves; as an astronaut, he wears a white spacesuit with grey hips.
In Life on Mars, BB wears a grey spacesuit with dark grey legs, bright yellow hands, and a chrome blue EMU (Extravehicular Mobility Unit). In LEGO Racers 2, the EMU is substituted with a standard Crash Helmet.
Background[]
BB is a young astronomy student who entered the Space Port Competition (also known as the Space Lottery)[1] and won, giving him the chance to train under Captain Jerry Walker and become an astronaut on a mission to Mars. After passing all the tests, BB becomes Captain Walker's co-pilot in a rescue operation, saving Navigator Eena Orbit after her space shuttle is struck by a meteor.
In the National Science Board's mission to establish a Martian science base, BB becomes part of the crew with Captain Mac, Scientist Doc, and the Assistant. They fly to Mars in the Solar Explorer, with BB's Journal making him the narrator of several Radio Logs.[2] Their ship is struck by meteors and crash-lands on Mars, but BB quickly befriends the younger Martians Altair and Cassiopeia. After Riegel tests BB's intelligence, the astronauts help the Martians create synthetic biodium and thwart the rebellious canyon Martians.
BB also appears in the video game LEGO Racers 2, next to an astronaut base at the Solar Explorer's crash site on Mars. He tells the player about a vortex in the abandoned Martian base, hinting at the location of a bonus game.
