9497 Republic Striker Fighter is a Star Wars: Star Wars: The Old Republic-themed set to be released in June of 2012.
Description
Like the 9500 Fury Class Interceptor, this set will be based on a starship from The Old Republic, namely the Talon-class Republic Starfighter. The starfighter's exterior wil be predominantly made up of red pieces, with some white and orange for detail work. Both wings will each have a cannon mounted on the underside, and the set will contain four flick-fire missiles. Three minifigures are to be included in the set- Jedi Master Satele Shan, the astromech droid T7-O1, and a Republic Trooper.
Background
Republic Striker Starfighters were used by the Republic before and during the Great Galactic War. Some of these starfighters were deployed in the first battle of the Great War; however, almost all of them were destroyed by the Sith Empire's forces. Several of these fighters were known to have been used many years after the initial conflict, during the Battle of Alderaan.
