40040 Olympic Torch is a Monthly Mini Model Build released in July 2012. It is the smallest Mini Model Build so far in 2012. The Olympic Torch is supposed to resemble the one being used in the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Description[]

The torch has a grey dish at the bottom. Above that is a conic piece extending upwards to where it connects on to a 6x6 scanner dish with holes in it. On top of that are three grey round pieces, with a trans-yellow brick-built flame on top.

Background[]

The Olympic Torch today is ignited several months before the opening ceremony of the Games at the site of the ancient Olympic Games from the rays of the sun. It is then carried from Greece to the site that the Olympics is being held via a relay, and the Olympic cauldron is then lit. This LEGO torch resembles the ones used in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
