4000002 LOM 2011 Moulding is an Architecture set released in 2011. It is exclusive to workers at the LOM plant in Monterrey, Mexico.

Background

The LOM (Lego Operations Mexico) Moulding plant opened in Monterrey in 2011. LEGO operated a plant in Juarez, but they eventually moved production to the plant in Monterrey due to the strategic position near the USA border, as the plant manufactures specifically for the American market. Though it started with 100 molding machines, it rapidly expanded and purchased an adjacent site, jumping to over 768 molding machines in two years. The second site was converted into two molding modules, while the original module was converted into a packing module in 2014. The facility also has a cooling system which is used to recycle rainwater, and is expected to recycle a portion of the waste water produced by the City of Monterrey. In 2015, the plant began construction on a second expansion, which is scheduled to be completed in 2022. The new portion of the factory will have packaging, molding, processing and warehousing facilities, and will employ over 6,000 people.
